For the inaugural edition of the College of Liberal Arts’ annual newsletter, I wanted to create more than just an informational newsletter. While keeping staff resources and upcoming events at a high level of importance, my personal goal was to set a precedent that celebrated the accomplishments of faculty and staff, encouraging them to take pride in being featured and to aspire to be part of future editions.

This was achieved by intentionally dedicating pages to awardees and consistently pairing names with headshots, individual quotes, and project details to highlight accomplishments and move away from an impersonal list of names.

Drawing inspiration from the university’s primary symbol, The Pick, and a common symbol for the liberal arts, The Pen, I created the title 'Pick & Pen' as the official name for this annual newsletter.
